Abstract

Since the disease caused by the COVID-19 virus was declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020, this issue has grabbed all the headlines around the world, generating a discourse of fear, terror and death that spread with much more. As quickly as the virus itself, world governments deployed a whole series of restrictions and measures, this has brought us multiple negative
feelings due to the possibility of getting sick and dying, as well as a complete change in perception within the social sphere due to the mistrust by those who might be infected. In this case, fear grows permanently, feeding on the one hand from the knowledge gap and on the other by the excessive amount of it. This article seeks to analyze the imaginary of fear linked
to the pandemic and the effects that this has on the activity. tourism, which until before this health crisis contributed, in gross terms, 10.3% of global GDP, according to the World Tourism
Organization, The forecasts have been modified several times since the pandemic began, mainly due to three issues: the its evolution, the management of mobility restrictions and the
financial availability of potential tourists.
