Abstract

Among the diversity of theoretical and disciplinary approaches that address the way in which cities are conceived and built at different historical moments and socio-territorial contexts, this article returns to the theory of Social Production of Space and the concept of Social Production of Habitat for the guidelines they offer for the inclusion of participatory processes in the construction of the city as an obligatory condition to guarantee the right to the city,
habitable environments and the relevance of spatial solutions. In this sense, the results of the qualitative, correlational and comparative study demonstrated that the involvement of the population in the construction of the city also generates conditions of appropriation, significance and neighborhood identity, spatial attributes that were differentially consolidated from daily dynamics of participation, social organization and the affective memory that was generated among the inhabitants of Predio El Molino and Santa Lucia 810, during the construction process of both housing developments located in Mexico City.
