Abstract

A Methodology is proposed that allows society to analyze and value existing buildings in order to apply different stances through gentrification by means of the processes of transformation into deterioration from sustainable retrofitting, evaluating the conditions in which they were built, their level of detriment and the substitution of new technologies. The USBI building (Library and Information Services Unit) of the Universidad Veracruzana, Campus Mocambo, Boca del Río, Veracruz, is used as a practical case. Applying sustainable environmental, social, economic, physical and technological criteria to improve its efficiency and comfort with the following actions: the baseline design for the evaluation of the environmental performance of a building, the improvement plan, the adaptation work, the retrofitting action plan, the users' awareness of the new operations, the final evaluation and the savings obtained from the maintenance. The methodology of information is analyzed from the perspective of if the building functions for the user, using the programs: Forms and
calculation software for its analysis, technical information logs identifying the conditions of physical vulnerability.
