Abstract

This article argues that tourists are an actor that have played a central role in the definition and operation of tourism policies such as “Pueblos Mágicos”. We will analyze the case of William Spratling and his role in turning Taxco into a tourist destination. The performance of different actors in tourism has been resumed by the national government, seeking its reintroduction within the ideas and cultural practices recognized as Mexican. To achieve this, the government has used different strategies and mechanisms, including tourism program “Pueblos Mágicos”. We will analyze through the concepts of intentionality and intersubjectivity the mechanisms used in program “Pueblos Mágicos” for this purpose.
