FROM THE MANAGEMENT OF METROPOLISES TO THE MANAGEMENT OF NECROPOLISES: CEMETERY TOURISM
Keywords:
Funerary, heritage, necrotourism, management, cemeteriesAbstract
The article is based on a hypothesis that can be aligned with the theory of the city by layers: the cemetery can resemble a city in much of its conformation and operation. These "spaces of death" have a territory organized by an urban structure and are manifested with a defined image. In addition, they are managed by a public or private body, and their inhabitants (living and dead) are related in environments of cooperation and conflict; they are also in themselves heritage spaces. For the pantheons to be considered funerary heritage, and included within cultural tourism, a complex network of actions at various levels of government and citizen actions is required. At present, necrotourism is booming and is becoming an alternative not saturated with tourists to visit regions and countries and learn about their history and customs.
