BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTING BIM DIMENSIONS IN THE ACADEMIC ASPECT OF THE CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECT

Currently there are two work approaches that are used within the development of architectural projects, the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology, and the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) work approach, the latter being the most used in the formation of the architect in Mexico. The main purpose of this article is to show the benefits that exist when developing architectural projects by integrating the BIM methodology in the academic field. Through the detailed analysis of the "BIM" dimensions, also known as "BIM benefits", various strategies can be developed that allow students and professionals of the architecture career, to implement the BIM work approach in the elaboration of architectural projects, these are developed in a faster and more precise way, due to their multiple simulation functions that allow to prevent possible problems that may exist in the construction phase of this. In this article the suggestion is made to adopt the BIM methodology within the architect's training, so that upon graduating from the degree, they can be prepared with the work approach based on the management of the architectural project information.
