Abstract

Monserrate is considered one of the emblems of Bogotá, protagonist of the history of the city, present since pre-Hispanic times. It is constituted as a space on which a multiplicity of imaginary spaces converge that coexist simultaneously and juxtaposed within the consumption and the dwelling of the subjects on it. In this article, the competing narratives in the configuration of the tourist attraction on the Cerro de Monserrate are discussed. The above, from a perspective of analysis of the social imaginary about the tourist attraction in the way in which Monserrate is conceived through the representations of a predominant tourist narrative. Next, convergent narratives are identified which create overwriting and struggles over space. The above supported by the bibliographic review, photographic images, participant observation and social cartography.
