The Franciscan Conventual Landscape in Mexico is the territory characterized by the
cultural heritage built during the 16th century by the mendicant order of San Francisco.
Particularly in Cuauhtinchan, a municipality in the state of Puebla, the Franciscan
monastery or convent is located, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, which constitutes one
of the most important historical legacies of the region. In this sense, we want to share an
analysis that allows us to understand how the landscape is configured, through a
methodology that consists of six basic components for its reading and they are: the physical
environment, the morphology, the territorial system, the activity, the meaning and the
image. With these elements and the Cuauhtinchan Map 4, as a cartographic historical base,
we try to characterize the territory as a heritage landscape.
