Abstract

The tourist cities of Mexico already presented a marked urban inequality since before the
Covid-19 pandemic, the confinement for the health alert only exacerbated their situation,
mainly in the ports of the state of Guerrero, because it is one of the entities with the highest
Poverty indices. Since the emergence of tourist destinations, their territorial conformation
showed a marked segregation, since they are cities with great urban contrasts, on the one
hand the bubbles of the tourist paradise are located and on the other the poverty strips. The
economy of the state of Guerrero is fundamentally supported by tourism, with the current
pandemic it is in a very critical situation, because work activities cannot be carried out
remotely, placing tourist cities in high vulnerability due to the great loss of jobs. Guerrero
is one of the entities which concentrates the largest amount of population in poverty and
extreme poverty, it is also the state where the highest index of population living in

overcrowding is located; so to apply the restrictions indicated by the authorities of "stay at
home" and "keep the healthy distance" by the covid-19, it is very difficult to carry them
out.
