This research is an approach to the way in which public space is inhabited from the perspective of urban artists; In particular, the transformations from the arrival of visual and performing street artists are addressed. For the analysis, a comparison is made between two Latin American cities, on the one hand, Mexico City and on the other, Bogotá; For both cases, road axes that connect two nodes of their respective historical centers are studied.
This work is structured by proposing a qualitative methodology with an approach to an ethnographic method. A first approach to the study is made by developing a historical contextualization of the territories, subsequently field observation tools, like mapping, interviews and surveys are used to generate an approach to the transformations in public space from the perspective of the street artists and their spectators.
The conclusions point out that the behavior of visual and performing street artists in public spaces depends on the physical characteristics of the space, as it conditions the different spatial configurations that can be generated, as well as conditions the perception of the spectators.
