Abstract

Place attachment is a construct that involves both emotional and functional dimensions within a specific geographical setting. This study investigates the factors influencing place attachment and their relationship with principles associated with heterotopic spaces, based on opinions expressed by users of a social media platform (Twitter or X). Tweets mentioning Parque Fundidora are collected to analyze feelings of belonging, identity, and attachment to
this redefined space. The methodology combines content analysis and sentiment analysis, as well as natural language processing tools to extract and evaluate the emotions and perceptions expressed by users. The importance of the detected themes related to the park is emphasized sing heterotopia as a lens to analyze place attachment. The research demonstrates the potential of such analyses on social media to study place attachment spontaneously,
providing a deeper understanding of the person-place connection. The results reveal multiple facets of place attachment, highlighting how the industrial history and the park's conversion into a recreational space contribute to the construction of both collective and personal identity.
