Nuevo Corral del Risco is located in the region of Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, which in recent decades has become one of the favorite destinations for tourist investment. This has led to the arrival of large capital that, with the support of the State, have invested heavily in projects that have not improved the living conditions of the local population. Nuevo Corral del Risco is a settlement that was created in the nineties of the last century, as a result of the disappearance of old Corral del Risco, due to the construction of the Costa Banderas megaproject. This operation implied that several families were displaced with the use of violence and relocated in a new territory, which have meant for the locals a different link with the environment. The article focuses on showing the feelings and emotions that come from a process of deterritorialization, through experience as an essential element in the formation of socio-spatial realities. It analyzes how these two aspects are intertwined in the study of rootedness, sense of place, topophilia and violence manifested in their links with the lost territory and the imposed territory.
