Abstract

This article derives from an ongoing investigation that aims to study gerontological tourism in the Historic Center of the city of Puebla, the following notes being an approach to the phenomenon that, despite its growing importance, has not been studied since the specialized perspective of tourism and, even less, in its relationship with the heritage located in historical centers. Recognizing the limits imposed by the limited information and analysis available on
the problem, the preliminary progress of the study in this text addresses the available sources on tourism in general, particularizing the gerontological segment, as well as the approach to the site, through interviews with bus drivers. tourist buses and managers involved, as well as the review of guide maps of sites and tourist routes, producing original sketches on the topic addressed in the center of the city of Puebla. After carrying out the investigation, with the approach to the actors who are in contact with tourists from the gerontological segment, it was possible to observe that there is a wide frequency of these travelers to the center of the city of Puebla, likewise, they are well located and known by the managers, but they have not been taken into account by the authorities of the various levels of government and they are seen and treated like all tourists, institutionally ignoring their very specific needs for this type of elderly travelers.
