Abstract

This work is part of some of the concerns arising from the expansion processes and forms of accelerated urbanization of large metropolises, where various conditions of physical integration in the ground are generated. One of these forms has to do with the annexation of settlements or populations already founded previously and that due to their proximity to the urbanization that is developing and growing, are forced to join the dominant city.

It is then that the forms of expansion of urbanization are studied - where the municipal limits are crossed - in which already consolidated towns and/or localities established prior to said expansion are integrated. These settlements understood as rural-urban villages, today present multiple problems and processes of socio-spatial transformation, given the inertia in which they are involved, generating new patterns of urban development and modifying the particular ways of life in the original population and the new generations that inhabit it.

Although the text is part of an investigation that entails a greater scope and definition, we present here some of the thoughts that arise on the urban phenomenon that today present multiple complexities that are pertinent to attend to. That although we understand that there are important contributions in this regard, we also know that a new review is required by virtue of the conditions conferred by our times at the beginning of the 21st century, in what
refers to the local, national and Latin American sphere, given the specific conditions advised by our contexts.
