Abstract

In this paper we want to study mainly heritage landscapes from the point of view of human geography without losing sight of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives. An approach that allows us to understand the landscape and the territory as complex realities. The study was carried out in the rural community of San Pedro Atlapulco (Ocoyoacac, Mexico). For this, participatory methods were used, first of all, for the
investigation and systematization of collective memory and, at the same time, the economic history of the territory was investigated to see its link with the characterization of the landscape. Another aspect that was taken into account is the permanence, contrasts and trends of geographic change identified in the study area. By way of conclusions, the importance of recognizing the ancestral management of the territory as an opportunity to understand future
scenarios and the possibilities it offers us for the heritage valuation of the landscape is observed.
