Abstract

El Carmen is a neighborhood with neighborhood relations, of colonial origin and is located
in the southern area of the Historic Center of the Puebla city. Over time, it has undergone
various modifications that correspond to the transformations experienced by the city.
Recreational and cultural activities converge there that attest to the social and commercial

characteristic of the creation of social spaces stand out.
The purpose of this work is explain the characteristics of each of the socio-historical stages
through which Carmen has passed, which have allowed it to establish various
representations in the memory of its inhabitants and the ways of life of its population, as
well such as the effects of an urbanization process in the city of Puebla that disrupt 'El
Carmen' through efficient actions of the governmental apparatus.
