Abstract

The research starts from the retrospective of compact cities based on the Most Sustainable
City model applied by the Urban Ecology Agency in Barcelona. Being the reference a city
with different characteristics to those of Colima, the research aims to generate an escalation
of the evaluation parameters of the indicators focused on the compactness and functionality
of the cities, since an area of opportunity to implement models that contribute values to the
sustainability of the city. The research is carried out, based on the documentation of the
parameterization that the studied model proposes and, based on these values, establish the
appropriate ones, taking into account the municipal, state, and national regulations. The
results of the research are presented by means of a comparative table where the first proposals
of parametric values in terms of compactness appropriate for the city of Colima are reflected.

With this research, a first stage is achieved in the continuous study of compactness in cities
with horizontal characteristics, the correct parametric value that is thrown as the first proposal
in the city will later allow us to obtain real indexes of a compactness proper to the conditions
of Colima city.
