Abstract

The modern development allowed the creation and consolidation of the megalópolis and the
hypermodern cities, jointed with a neoliberal system which proclaims consumption and
individualism. These are cities that artificially build a world dominated by the market and towers
that replace historical buildings, and that at the same time trigger the crisis of the public space,
which causes a tear in the social and identity fabric in the residents. The concrete spaces that
make the hipermodern cities are impersonal spaces and of circulation, experiencies which do not
build nor signify, they are experiences of fluidity, change and not appropriation. This is the
starting point to denounce the increasing dissolution of the place, and with this the dissolution of
the public space in the 21st century, by which it becomes necessary the ontological analysis of
the place which allows the experiences of inhabiting, in the thought of Martin Heidegger.

The tear of these spheres represents from the deep the crisis of inhabiting, which is not so much

related to the lack of housing as to the fact of the loss of the essence of the inhabiting; in words
of Heidegger, it is necessary to learn to inhabit first.
