Support cultural tourism in the historical center of Guadalajara (2014-2016)

Abstract

The central objective was to expose the current tourist use of the Historic Center of Guadalajara (CHG) by domestic and foreign tourists in the 2014-2016 biennium. The methodology used was qualitative and quantitative. The results were: a) organization of local residents to preserve their expensive buildings; B) the entrepreneurs are interested in remodeling the buildings to destine them to stores; C) the municipal government participates in the restoration and modernization of the built heritage and d) the CHG is visited by travelers from central and western Mexico mainly and by foreigners from the United States of America, Costa Rica, Germany, Chile, Ecuador, France and Guatemala, respectively. The conclusions were: i) the CHG is an experiential tourism site in Mexico; ii) the current use of 20% residential, 50% commercial and 30% tourism; iii) the San Juan de Dios Market is the most visited.
