Abstract

This article proposes the recovery of the Historic Centers through the active participation of
citizens in the configuration of their spaces, highlighting the heritage value and potential as
a tourist attraction, of buildings currently in a state of abandonment, which maintain
architectural, historical and cultural values or potential, to adapt to the new contexts in which
they are immersed, giving new meanings to these centralities, without losing their intrinsic
values. The collective recognition of the true essence of these spaces, translated into a
narrative that is built on the memory of inhabitants and visitors, opens up the possibility of
making these now invisible spaces reappear. Through theoretical research and field study,

based on memory, social and imaginary representations of citizens, about a cinema built in
the first half of the 20th century, in the Historic Center of the City of Xalapa, Veracruz, which
remains in the collective memory of citizens, the meanings granted or lost over time are
analyzed to contribute to their rebirth and that of similar spaces, as new detonator spaces of
life.
