Abstract

The health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the deficient system of
garbage separation and collection in the “clean points” of Guadalajara, which is relevant
due to the growing generation of COVID-19 Waste (RCOVID- 19) in homes, generating
sources of infection as they are not designed to function in the current epidemiological
crisis due to coronavirus. In order to understand the problem in greater detail, the
usefulness and operation of the so-called “clean points” or garbage separation containers
and the habits in their handling by users are analyzed. This ethnographic work aims to
show how the cleaning, disinfection and disposal habits of the RCOVID-19 have changed
from the home to the garbage collection points and in the spaces that are used inside the

home to disinfect purchases or items. grooming routines. To finally present some
recommendations from health specialists on the most appropriate management of them
through interviews.
