Abstract

Currently one of the pandemics that is already part of the worldwide history is being
witnessed, the COVID-19 virus has affected people in different ways, causing their isolation
to prevent the spread of the virus. One of the consequences of this virus besides physical
health, is mental health, since people, being in isolation, perceive space differently and take
environmental attitudes regarding satisfactory or negative experiences of space; Being in a
space for an indefinite time, can develop stress and anxiety, caused by the virus situation and
by the space design. There are spaces where people live with vegetation, either indoors or
outdoors, many people implement it or take advantage of the existing nature of the place to
generate views, sounds, microclimates, creating pleasant atmospheres. Research has been
carried out, based on the positive effects of human contact with nature, this research aims to

verify these effects and how, in times of isolation, the presence or absence of nature can
affect the cognitive development of human beings in their homes.
