SECOND HOME AND RURAL GENTRIFICATION IN THE PERI-URBAN AREA OF HERMOSILLO, SONORA https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/513
In recent years, the city of Hermosillo has experienced a growing process of expansion of rural urbanizations on peri-urban territory, previously a place of rural activities. The process has implications for urban and social dynamics. Firstly, it refers to a social imaginary that aims to return to the countryside, the reunion of family and nature, to build the dream house with urban comforts; Secondly, it means rural gentrification, economically wealthier social groups than rural inhabitants occupy the agricultural territory, the peri-urban land and the desert environment and constitute themselves as neo-rural residents or owners of second homes. The objective of the text is the study of the phenomenon known as rural urbanization, located on peri-urban territory and its urban, social and environmental consequences and impacts. A descriptive approach to the process was carried out using various observation techniques and some still preliminary results were obtained.
Jesús Enríquez Acosta José Enrique Romandia Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 2 25 THE HISTORICAL CENTER’S DASEIN: TERRITORIY AND IDENTITY IN LIGHT OF HEIDEGGER. https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/515
The main purpose of this research is to deepen in the relationship that exists between concepts such as identity and territory, inscribed in the cultural geographic framework of the Historic Centers; this arises due to its study from the interdiscipline and that conforms the theoretical framework of a doctoral thesis that deals with the architectural heritage, as the symbol of this identity that is gestated and developed in these sites given its transcendence in the historical and patrimonial. The importance and objective of this work lies in delving into the term dasein introduced by the German philosopher Heidegger in 1927, in relation to the identity of a place such as the Historic Center and its inhabitants. In this sense, it is enlightening to study these places, since they are considered the places where cities are officially founded.
Argelia Isabel Dávila del Bosque Gabriela Carmona Ochoa Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 26 43 IDENTIFICATION OF URBAN SPACES WITH CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBCENTERS IN INTERMEDIATE CITIES https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/517
All cities originally functioned from a central place where economic, social, political activities, among others, called the center. This city model was considered monocentric. In this context, the first theoretical models were born, during the first half of the 20th century, which explained the growth of North American cities, based on a central place where economic activities they performed and some services were provided. Thus, the most central locations had higher land value, but lower transportation costs.
With the increase in population, cities have grown in territorial extension and economic activities have been decentralized, taking advantage of the urban economies that generate the advantages of agglomeration and location, giving rise to the formation of new urban centers (subcenters) that compete with the center traditional, thus appearing polycentricity in the cities.
In recent decades, some statistical methods have been developed that allow identifying urban subcenters based on employment and land value, the subject of this article, the product of research developed in the city of Culiacán Rosales, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Jorge J. This penal colony was founded in 1905 and closed in 2010, this closure represented the last and final stage of the island penal colonies of Latin America; these emerged at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. According to studies carried out and published by Avilés (2009-2020), this penal colony stands out as a sui generis case due to its forms of penitentiary organization and spaces of the extinct island penal colonies of Latin America. The article provides the historical description of the urban and architectural development of what was the Balleto camp from 1905 to 2010,
in its history as a total institution and community; with the purpose that this camp is considered a cultural heritage value, with the purpose of creating the necessary bridge that unites its past as a penitentiary and its present as a tourist and cultural recreation center; and thus, open a window to its conservation for future generations.
Evangelina Avilés Quevedo Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 60 89 URBAN AGONIES: TRANSFORMATION OF THE TERRITORY IN DOWNTOWN MONTERREY. CASE STUDY: BARRIO DE LA LUZ https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/519
In recent decades, the metamorphosis of urban landscapes has given rise to remote, scattered, and disjointed spaces. This model has further encouraged the development of cities characterized by disintegration, fragmentation, and exclusion, devoid of a cohesive community spirit. This article delves into the intricate changes unfolding in the heart of Monterrey, emanating from urban biopolitical processes entwined with hegemonic and regulatory urbanism. The exploration begins with an analysis of the impact of urban processes and the city's expansion, with a specific focus on scrutinizing urban projects propelled by capital interests. Building on these observations, the narrative underscores the paramount importance of nurturing community and neighborhood networks. Introducing the concept of "portals" as a strategic tool, the article advocates for its application to rekindle the intrinsic value of the urban territory. Finally, the Barrio de la Luz serves as a compelling case study, prompting a reevaluation of novel approaches to territorial engagement. Preliminary findings underscore the pressing need to actively engage the community in the ongoing processes of territorial transformation.
Diana Karina Padilla Herrera Marysol Uribe Pérez-Coeto Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 90 114 RESIDENTIAL SEGREGATION AS AN EFFECT OF GATED COMMUNITIES IN HERMOSILLO, SONORA https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/520
The private production of housing in gated communities is generated under mercantile and exclusionary logics, these are promoted with narratives linked to exclusivity and security, they are built with perimeter walls that obstruct urban mobility, as well as other defensive elements that give cities a particular image. But how are these types of spaces distributed or grouped in cities and how do they exacerbate residential segregation? This paper aims to generate a descriptive analysis of the category of residential segregation that emerges from the research entitled "Social representations of fear of the inhabitants of gated communities in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora: the walled fear", conducted in 2020. In which, given the lack of institutional information on the phenomenon of gated communities, in relation to the amount of this type of spaces, their spatial distribution, housing density and more, to obtain the empirical material, it was decided to go to each of these developments, and capture in observation cards, urban elements of these spaces such as defensive characteristics, its geographical location, approximate number of houses, the adjoining and other elements. According to the analysis of the data obtained, we observed the distribution of this type of spaces according to their social class, as well as the differences in terms of housing density and characteristics according to the type of subdivision, in addition to alerting us to the deep residential segregation produced by these types of urban designs.
Ricardo Pavón Ureña Jesús Enríquez Acosta Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 115 137 URBAN DYNAMICS AND INNOVATIVE SUSTAINABLE PROPOSALS FOR THE GREATER RESISTENCIA (ARGENTINA) https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/524
Current speed of urban sprawl, have crucial impact on capacity of management of these processes and indicates the necessity to find appropriate methodologies according to cities’ demand in developing economies. The mechanisms, agrarian actions are distinguished and the increase in population and housing within the limits of the metropolis is quantified, as a gradual process and mechanism that has characterized the expansion of urban areas in our country as a result of the reforms. to the Agrarian Law of 1992, leading to the construction of massive housing projects or self-construction. It is discussed whether these processes are linked to the guidelines emanating from international discussion and government agendas to encourage territories that provide development conditions for cities. With the support of techniques and tools such as Geographic Information Systems, bibliographic-documentary review - statistics and field work, the areas of growth linked to real estate projects and settlements resulting from self-construction were identified within the period from 1990 to 2023. work provides updated and rigorous information to be usted not only in administration actions, but also in urban planning, necessary to review and known, as part of the planning of the Metropolitan territory.
Herman Barrera Mejia Alan García Haro Karla Ivonne Molina Rivera Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 164 183 THE GERONTOLOGICAL TOURISM IN PUEBLA; AN APPROACH TO ITS PROFILE IN 2023 https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/521
This article derives from an ongoing investigation that aims to study gerontological tourism in the Historic Center of the city of Puebla, the following notes being an approach to the phenomenon that, despite its growing importance, has not been studied since the specialized perspective of tourism and, even less, in its relationship with the heritage located in historical centers. Recognizing the limits imposed by the limited information and analysis available on the problem, the preliminary progress of the study in this text addresses the available sources on tourism in general, particularizing the gerontological segment, as well as the approach to the site, through interviews with bus drivers. tourist buses and managers involved, as well as the review of guide maps of sites and tourist routes, producing original sketches on the topic addressed in the center of the city of Puebla. After carrying out the investigation, with the approach to the actors who are in contact with tourists from the gerontological segment, it
was possible to observe that there is a wide frequency of these travelers to the center of the city of Puebla, likewise, they are well located and known by the managers, but they have not been taken into account by the authorities of the various levels of government and they are seen and treated like all tourists, institutionally ignoring their very specific needs for this type of elderly travelers.
Victor Hugo Vargas Luna Victor Hugo Vargas Luna Eloy Méndez Sainz Juan Francisco Salamanca Montes Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 184 215 MANAGEMENT OF HERITAGE BUILDINGS AND URBAN RENEWAL MEGAPROJECTS TWO CASE STUDIES: MITIKAH Y BPS https://topofilia.buap.mx/index.php/topofilia/article/view/527
For a long time, cities have served as an object of study for disciplines such as anthropology, law, economics, history, among others. In this research, a comparison of four cities of similarities and contrasts in the state of Sonora, northwest of Mexico, is constructed and described. The study of these cities stands out due to the historical moment to which their foundation is linked and which, in addition, is reflected in their morphological characteristics that make them identifiable from one another. Empalme and Ciudad Obregón, young cities barely over a hundred years in existence, emerged as a resulta of the incipient industrialization that began during the Porfiriato and developed in the substitution production processes adopted in the country after the revolutionary stage, establishing both towns as centers for the construction and maintenance of the railway and agricultural development. For their part, the cities of Guaymas and Hermosillo have their origins in the colonial era, in a passage of history characterized by the controversial colonizing-evangelizing process and constant conflicts with native peoples of the region.
For this reason, the beginnings of the latter revolve around encomiendas, temple buildings, prisons, and the effort to spread mercantilism.
Sergio Felipe Ruiz Gómez José Enrique Romandia Matuz Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2024-04-25 2024-04-25 28 216 242
